The NBA's current record holder for most technical fouls in both a season (41) and a career (317) did his best to help with a forgotten public health crisis because people are complex, and life has a lot of shades of gray.
Rasheed Wallace, alongside Stephen Jackson, Rachel Nichols and a bunch of other volunteers who didn't get screen-time, went to Flint, Michigan this past weekend to delivered a veritable butt-ton of bottled water to the residents of the Michigan city, buying out all the H2O at a local Target and Wal-Mart to make it happen.
The 18-year NBA vet explained his reason for the trip to Nichols, saying that "We take it for granted because we live in other cities and our water is fine. But just imagine if it was happening in your town. You damn sure would want help, too, so that's why we're here."
This, of course, is one of the rare instances where bottled water actually has a practical application, and isn't just a scam charging all us dummies for something we could just get out of our faucets.
Wallace's trip was simply his most recent expedition he's made to Flint, also doing it back in February as evidenced by this tweet from UNC basketball's official account:
Flint lies roughly 65 miles northwest of Detroit. And, as you may or may not know, Wallace's Motor City-area ties run deep. He not only played for the Pistons for five years, between 2004-2009, winning a championship in his first season there. But he also was on the team's coaching staff during the 2013-14 campaign.
