The Cubs haven't won a World Series in 108 freaking years, which is a pretty astounding feat for a team located in one of MLB's major markets. But that didn't stop one optimistic Cubs fan from declaring this year the year that the Cubs will finally win it all. And he recently agreed to get a premature "2016 World Series Champions" tattoo just to prove how confident he is in his team.

The guy's name is Noel, and he got the tattoo on his left leg as part of a radio contest that sought to find a Cubs fan passionate enough to bet against history by getting some pre-postseason ink predicting the Cubs as the eventual World Series winner. With all the talk about curses surrounding the Cubs, we don't know why you would ever tempt fate like this, but hey, what's the worst that could happen? If you're going to watch your team go down in a ball of flames, you might as well get a tattoo that will be a constant reminder of the pain for years to come.

Of course, Noel's decision to get the "Champions" tattoo prematurely is not unprecedented. In the past, we've seen fans do this many times. There was the time a University of Kentucky basketball fan got a 40-0 tattoo on his leg (that didn't work out), the time a Seattle Seahawks diehard got a back-to-back champs tattoo before the 2015 Super Bowl (that didn't work out), and the time Jason Terry got an NBA champions tattoo for the Mavericks on one of his biceps prior to the 2010-11 NBA season (that one did work out, meaning there is hope for this Cubs fan after all!).

Noel's confidence isn't totally unwarranted, either. The Cubs have clinched the best record in the big leagues and are currently 101-57, so they are one of the teams favored to win the World Series. But again, if there's any fan base that you think would be scared of getting ahead of themselves, it's the Cubs' fans.

Guess we'll see if Noel ends up regretting this or not in about a month.
