Derek Fisher and his girlfriend Gloria Govan are lucky to be alive after the car accident they were involved in very early Sunday morning. According to reports, Fisher flipped the 2015 Cadillac Escalade he was driving in with Govan as his passenger on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles. The vehicle was totaled, but Fisher and Barnes both walked away without any major injuries.

But Fisher isn’t all the way out of the woods just yet. He was arrested for DUI following the crash, and according to TMZ, there’s another wrinkle to the story that is probably going to affect Fisher in the very near future, if it hasn’t already. The Escalade that Fisher was driving wasn’t his. It was actually registered to Govan’s ex Matt Barnes, and TMZ is reporting that Barnes gave it to Govan specifically so that she could transport their two sons around. So it’s probably safe to say that Barnes—who is playing in the NBA Finals with the Warriors right now—is not happy to hear about what transpired when Fisher was behind the wheel of the SUV.

The good news in all of this is that everyone was OK after the crash. But the bad news is that Fisher is likely going to have to face Barnes at some point and explain what happened. And obviously, given their history, that has led to some strong reactions from people who are hearing about this story for the first time this morning:

Barnes hasn’t commented on the accident publicly. But it doesn’t feel like this is going to help his relationship with Fisher or Govanat all.
