Broncos' Brandon Marshall Vows to Donate $300 Per Tackle to Community Organizations

Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall made headlines last Thursday night after he decided to follow Colin Kaepernick’s lead and kneel during the national anthem prior to the Broncos’ season-opening game against the Panthers. He lost endorsements as a result of it, but despite the backlash he has received, he took to his Instagram on Wednesday to reveal that he’s going to continue to take action when it comes to trying to improve his local community.

It’s unclear if Marshall will, like Kaepernick, continue to take a knee during The Star-Spangled Banner before games this season. But on Tuesday, Marshall got the chance to meet with Denver Police Chief Robert White to talk about a range of issues that are affecting the community, and after that meeting, he decided that he’s going to try to "stand up for change" this season by donating $300 for every tackle that he makes to community organizations (he made 102 combined tackles last season and had six in his first game against Carolina).

He didn’t name any specific organizations that he plans to help outside of the Rose Andom Center, with which he has worked in the past in an effort to stop domestic violence. However he pledged to "be involved with several other organizations that benefit the Denver community and others through the services, awareness, and funds they provide for these critical social issues."
