Just a few months after saying he did not agree with the NFL’s updated COVID-19 vacccine protocols, Cole Beasley took to Twitter on Monday to call out Buffalo Bills fans for booing him over his vaccine-related comments.
“Only place I get boo’d is at our home stadium,” Beasley wrote. “Then some of the same people want me to take pictures and sign autographs. I thought bills fans were the best in the world? Where’d they go? If the vaccine works then why do vaxxed people need to be protected from unvaxxed?”
When Matt Parrino of NYUP.com claimed he heard people yelling “Bease” and not “boo,” the wide receiver responded: “Some are. Then I got some right behind the bench yelling at me to get vaccinated and talking shit.”
From there, he exchanged some words with Mark Cuban, who told Beasley that “the the problem isn’t so much your choice as it is your logic.”
“I didn’t get it [the vaccine] cause I do not need it,” he replied. “What other explanation do you need? The fact that I need to explain any reason for my own choice is the problem. That’s the whole point. The risks are not the same for everyone.”
In another tweet, Beasley claimed that you can get COVID-19 from a vaccinated person, adding that “there are plenty examples of that throughout the NFL.”
In response to Beasley’s reply, Cuban reminded the wideout that while it is “100% his decision to make,” it is also “the decision of business owners to determine how they want to access the risks Covid brings to their businesses and set the guidelines they think work best.”
“Yea I get that a business will do whatever to protect the money,” Beasley responded. “But like you said, I wish they would just call it that instead of pretending it’s for safety. Then maybe the narrative that unvaxxed are selfish assholes will go away and we can be United again instead of divided.”
He continued, “There is no choice if it is mandated. You’re taking the choice out of their hands. Yes they can make a choice to not work there but there is no guarantee that another job is waiting for them elsewhere. You saying they have a choice makes you feel better but not them.”
As always, Beasley’s tweets inspired strong reactions by fans. Check out some of the more notable responses below.
