Dr. J Rushed to Hospital After Falling Ill at Sixers Game (UPDATED)

The basketball legend is currently under evaluation.

Hall of Famer Julius "Dr. J" ErvingĀ was taken to the hospital after getting sick at the Philadelphia 76ers-Detroit Pistons game at Wells Fargo Center on Friday night.

"Philadelphia 76ers legend Julius Erving fell ill at tonight's game and was taken to a local hospital, where he is currently being evaluated. He is expected to be released after the evaluation," the SixersĀ and Erving'sĀ management team shared in a statement.Ā The basketball legend, 67, was in attendance to ring the ceremonial Liberty Bell before tip-off. He was also honored before the game for the 35th anniversary of his rock-the-cradle dunk over the Los AngelesĀ Lakers' Michael Cooper.

Dr. Jā€™s management team issued a statement later today regarding his current health condition, announcing he has left the hospital. ā€œMr. Erving has been released from the hospital after a comprehensive medical evaluation,ā€ it reads. ā€œHeā€™s expected to make a full recovery and sincerely thanks all of his friends and fans for their well wishes and prayers.ā€
