Hall of Famer Julius "Dr. J" ErvingĀ was taken to the hospital after getting sick at the Philadelphia 76ers-Detroit Pistons game at Wells Fargo Center on Friday night.
"Philadelphia 76ers legend Julius Erving fell ill at tonight's game and was taken to a local hospital, where he is currently being evaluated. He is expected to be released after the evaluation," the SixersĀ and Erving'sĀ management team shared in a statement.Ā The basketball legend, 67, was in attendance to ring the ceremonial Liberty Bell before tip-off. He was also honored before the game for the 35th anniversary of his rock-the-cradle dunk over the Los AngelesĀ Lakers' Michael Cooper.
Dr. Jās management team issued a statement later today regarding his current health condition, announcing he has left the hospital. āMr. Erving has been released from the hospital after a comprehensive medical evaluation,ā it reads. āHeās expected to make a full recovery and sincerely thanks all of his friends and fans for their well wishes and prayers.ā
