Former NBA player Ben Gordon has been arrested on weapons and threatening charges following an incident at a juice shop in Connecticut, NBC New York reports.

Stamford, Connecticut police said the 40-year-old was said to be “acting bizarre” at the juice shop and behaved aggressively towards staff and customers. During the incident, he allegedly displayed a knife and made a verbal threat to an undisclosed person. When officers responded to the incident on Tuesday, which was also Gordon’s birthday, they asked him to come with them outside of the shop. He was asked to put his hands up against the wall, and refused. He was taken into custody with “a minimal amount of force.”

Police said that a knife was recovered from Gordon’s pants, and a stun gun and brass knuckles were found in his backpack. When he was taken to the nearby police station, he continued to act aggressively and was later admitted to a hospital for a mental health evaluation. He was eventually released from the hospital, returned to the station, and complied with booking procedures. He has since been released on a $10,000 bond.

He is currently facing threat and weapons-related charges, including sixth-degree larceny for reportedly refusing to pay for juice, one count of disorderly conduct, and one count of interfering with policy. He is set to appear in court later this month.

Last year, Gordon was arrested at LaGuardia Airport for allegedly punching his ten-year-old son in the head. According to law enforcement, he was not supposed to be with his child due to an active restraining order against him. He was prevented from boarding the plane, but he resisted arrest and left a pair of officers with minor injuries. He is also facing charges for an alleged incident that happened the month following the one at LaGuardia. Per ESPN, he was accused of punching a security guard at a McDonald’s in Chicago in November 2022.
