The 2012 Complex All-Star Team

That feeling of dejection among lesser-known ballers can only mean it's that time of year again: The 2012 NBA All-Star Game is upon us and like many years before, there were a few deserving dudes left out. But we're not here to give you just some lame list of guys that should've made it. We're here to shed light on some of the guys that do the dirty work too, cats that would make an All-Star team in a perfect world.

There's some snubs sprinkled in there like Josh Smith along with glue guys like that man/beast known as Chris Kaman. Plus, we couldn't have our All-Star roster without the most-talked about NBA player of the moment, Jeremy Lin a.k.a. Super Lintendo. So, as you get prepared for this weekend's upcoming festivities here are the Complex 2012 NBA All Stars. Hint: Kobe, LeBron, and Dwight did not make the cut but Tiago Splitter did!

Team: New Jersey Nets
Stats: 13.6 PPG 10.4 RPG 1.2 BPG

Lord knows we love us some Kris Humphries. He's having the best season of his career and ultimately diminishing the box of Kim K; we don't know whether to be happy or sad. He's been booed in arenas across the NBA and still manages to be a double-double machine. If Kris keeps this up, he'll have a longer career than his ex.

Team: Oklahoma City Thunder
Stats: 8.3 PPG 7.5 RPG 3.3 BPG

"Iblocka" protects the rim like the pterodactyl in Land of the Lost protects its young. He's had three games with double-digit blocks this year, one of which was part of a triple-double (14 points, 15 boards, 11 blocks) the same night KD dropped 50 and Westbrook had 40. Without Serge, Durant wouldn't be able to get away with his sub-par defense (yeah, we said it) and the Thunder wouldn't be the team to beat in the West. He has the potential to be a Defensive Player of the Year and is sure to make an All-NBA Defense team this year.

Team: Atlanta Hawks
Stats: 16 PPG 9.5 RPG 3.7 APG 2.1 BPG

Area 55 and Iggs are having good years, but not like Josh's. Along with Ivan Johnson, Josh has played tough in the absence of his front-court mate, Al Horford, for most of the season. He has yet to make an All-Star game and when he found out he wouldn't be one, he spoke his mind and followed that up by dropping 23 points, 19 boards, 5 assists and 3 blocks on Orlando that same night. He's having a monster year and is an All-Star in our eyes.

Team: Memphis Grizzlies
Stats: 18.9 PPG 2.2 APG 6.6 RPG 0.8 BPG 1.7 SPG

So Rudy Gay isn't an All-Star, but Dirk is? Their numbers are basically identical until you look at the defensive stats and the fact that Rudy has the Grizzlies heading to the playoffs without Z-Bo. Rudy has the potential to be a superstar in this league. He can run, shoot, defend and will dunk it on anyone crazy enough to go up with him. Rudy might've been the odd man out this year, but look for him to be a legit All-Star next season.

Team: Indiana Pacers
Stats: 18.2 PPG 4.5 RPG 1.8 APG

The only other forwards putting up more PPG than Danny Granger? Oh, just two dudes by the names of Rudy Gay and LeBron James. Granger along with Roy Hibbert (who actually made the All-Star roster) make for a youthful duo that has helped lead the Pacers to their 20-12 start. This year the Eastern Conference standings have been all about clearing out the old heads (sorry, Celtics fans) and making room for the young'ns of the league like the Pacers.

Team: Dallas Mavericks
Stats: 12.0 PPG 2.1 APG 6.4 RPG 0.9 SPG

At his old age, Shawn Marion can still defend the best player on the floor and even lock down some point guards. He was instrumental in Dallas' championship run and the catalyst in the Mavs' climb to respectability this year. He's no longer the Matrix, but Marion's experience and long limbs are invaluable to Dallas.

Team: New York Knicks
Stats: 11.8 PPG 9.7 RPG 1.4 BPG

Tyson has been the most consistent Knick without a question. He was credited with changing Dallas' defensive culture last year and his presence is heavily missed. He and Mike Woodson have done the same in New York. Last year the Knicks were ranked 22nd in overall defense, they're 6th this season. Enough said.

Team: Phoenix Suns
Stats: 15.6 PPG 10.4 RPG 1.6 BPG

Gortat is the most perfect back-up center in the NBA. The reason he starts on the Suns is because they suck. Orlando fucked up royally when they traded him in the Jason Richardson deal. The God is averaging a double-double and rarely gets dunked on. Who would get dunked on with a Jumpman tat on their leg? Yeah, that's what we thought. His numbers are inflated because he's rocking with best in Steve Nash, but he can guard any center in the league one-on-one and his toughness shall not be questioned.

Team: New York Knicks
Stats: 14.3 PPG 5.6 APG 2.4 RPG 1.3 SPG

Haters have been waiting for Linsanity to end but all signs point to this dude being around for a while. Since he started playing significant minutes, he's averaging 25 and 9 assists. Sure, he has to get the turnovers down and fight through screens, but his skill-level can no longer be questioned. Jeremy single-handedly saved the Knicks season and D'Antoni's job. Not bad for a guy sitting at the end of the bench on his way to being cut by his third team. Now the biggest question isn't, can he play? It's, can he play with Melo? We think it'll work out just in time for the postseason.

Team: Houston Rockets
Stats: 15.4 PPG 7.7 APG 5.2 RPG 2 SPG

Kyle followed up last year's career highs with another career season (so far) and is the reason Houston cut Jeremy Lin. He has thrived as Houston's starting PG and has them currently sitting in the 6th seed in a stacked Western Conference. It's tough to call him a snub when you consider he'll have to replace Nash or Parker, who are each having great years in their own right. If it's any consolation, Kyle should get a couple MVP votes if he keeps his play up.

Team: San Antonio Spurs
Stats: 9.4 PPG 5.2 RPG 0.8 BPG

Stephen A. giggles whenever Skip mentions his name, but the fact of the matter is, Tiago has been a solid contributor to San Antonio's hot start. The Brazilian big man was vital during the Spurs 11-game winning streak and the moment he's out, they lose to Portland by 40 (we kid, Parker, Duncan, and Ginobli were out too). He gives Pop the option to give Tim Duncan much needed rest in this short season.

Team: Cleveland Cavaliers
Stats: 17.2 PPG 6.3 RPG 1.1 SPG

The 14-year veteran is continuing to put up impressive numbers on a regular basis giving Cleveland fans something to cheer about. The team's 13-17 record is a bit embarrassing but it has the Cavs only 1.5 games out of 8th place in the East. Fellow underachievers, FTW.

Team: New Orleans Hornets
Stats: 10.9 PPG 7.5 RPG 1.3 BPG

Sometimes you just have to look at the intangibles instead of the stat sheet. While Chris Kaman's numbers aren't much to brag about they aren't anything to scoff at either. Plus, with that beard along with the fact that he hunts live animals and looks like he enjoys raw flesh, who wouldn't want him manning the paint?

Team: Indiana Pacers
Stats: 12.6 PPG 6.8 RPG

Indiana has been another one of those teams that surprised many people this year. One key player in the team's success has been this hardworking New Jersey native. In only his third season with the team and first year with the Pacers, West is the third highest scorer and is second in RPG on the Indiana roster.

Team: Utah Jazz
Stats: 9.5 PPG 3.2 APG 2.8 RPG

Gordon Hayward is a beast. We should've believed it when he gave the Dukies all they could handle in the 2010 National Championship. He's been getting better as the year has gone on and is finally looking comfortable out there. Hayward's a major factor in Utah being competitive this season. His all-around play is built for the NBA and can possibly end up on this list when he hangs 'em up. OK, maybe we're getting a little ahead of ourselves but still.

Team: Philadelphia 76ers
Stats: 15.6 PPG 3.7 APG 2.2 RPG

We already told you that Sixers back! A big part of the team's 20-13 start which has them sitting at the fifth best record in the East has been the play of Williams. The crafty guard ranks third in PPG for his position. The combination of Williams and Jrue Holiday makes Philadelphia one of the best back courts in the conference. Maybe they'll even bring back A.I. for a bit of veteran guidance?! Lord knows he'd be up for taking the vet league minimum. #toughtimes

Team: Los Angeles Clippers
Stats: 13.5 PPG 3.4 APG 2.3 RPG 1 SPG

Mo is a professional. He's a starting PG in this league and didn't bat an eye when he was relegated to the bench once Chauncey and CP3 came into town. He's played on winning teams that have gone deep into the playoffs, which should stand for something. Mo's definitely in the running for Sixth Man of the Year and will be some lucky team's floor general next season.

Team: Chicago Bulls
Stats: 10.4 PPG 4 APG 2 RPG 1.1 SPG

Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. C.J. Watson! And since you're in a clappin' mood...He's one of the main reasons the Bulls were able to keep up with Miami in standings. Chicago has gone 7-3 with Rose out of the lineup and he deserves to be nominated for Sixth Man of the Year just for that. C.J. runs the point for the best bench defensive-unit in the L and can get in the lane and finish with the best of them.

Team: Los Angeles Clippers
Stats: 7.9 PPG 8.8 RPG 2.6 BPG

Before the season even started everyone was hyped about the offense the Clippers would produce with their revamped starting lineup. But what's often forgotten is the role defense, and more specifically DeAndre Jordan, has played in them leading the Pacific division. With 2.6 blocks per game, only JaVale "Stunt 101" McGee and Serge Ibaka are averaging more blocks per game than D.J. The Lob City crew knows that young'ns with good D are hard to come by. Ayo!

Team: Philadelphia 76ers
Stats: 13.6 PPG 4.6 APG 3.3 RPG 1.6 SPG

This kid can ball. It's no mistake that his emergence coincides with Philly's fast start this year. He's a future All-Star that can do it all: score, pass, defend. Doug Collins might be the perfect coach for him (see: Michael Jordan) and Holiday's leading the Sixers to their best season in years. Iguodala might be their "star," but Jrue is the franchise.
