Earlier this week, one Reddit user proposed an insane yet totally reasonable strategy for how the Golden State Warriors should run their offense: simply set up the other four offensive players in a circle around Steph Curry and have them lock arms.
The hilarious theory spread across the internet, with fans wondering, Why doesn't a team actually try this? Tuesday night, we got out answer. The official NBA Referees' Twitter account actually responded to the idea and explained why the offensive team would all but certainly commit a foul if it attempted such a strategy.
Bummer. This would have been fun to watch. And that Redditor still deserves props for creativity.
Curry didn't need four screeners surrounding him to flourish this season. He averaged 26.4 points, 6.1 assists, and 5.1 rebounds per game. He may have at least entered the MVP conversation (not that he would've won the award) if he had been healthy all season.
Curry came up clutch when his team needed him the most. In this year's Finals, he averaged 27.5 points per game and shot 42 percent from three-point range.
