Manny Pacquiao to Floyd Mayweather: ‘Let’s Do a Second One’

The May 2015 boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao was billed as the Fight of the Century. It turned out to be a disappointment—there wasn't much excitement, as Mayweather cruised to a win by unanimous decision. But Pacquiao wants another shot at Floyd.

Pacquiao claimed the WBA welterweight title Sunday, defeating Lucas Matthysse by TKO and claiming his 60th career win. Afterward, he challenged Mayweather, who has appeared to flirt with the idea of transitioning to mixed martial arts for a big payday.

“Mayweather? If he decides to go back to boxing then that is the time we are going to call the shots,” Pacquiao told reporters when asked about a possible rematch, according to ESPN 5. “I have the belt, so it’s up to him. If he wants to come back in boxing, let’s do a second one.”

Mayweather, 41, has not fought since his blockbuster brawl with Conor McGregor in Aug. 2017. Pacquiao is 39 and seems to be in vintage shape.

If the fight with Mayweather doesn’t work out, look for Pacquiao to take on Amir Khan or Vasyl Lomachenko.

“Yes that’s a potential opponent; Amir Khan,” Pacquiao said. “There’s a lot of potential opponents there, like Lomachenko, there are so many fighters that have potential to be my opponent next.”

Pacquiao also currently serves as a Senator of the Philippines. Mayweather has a 50-0 boxing record with 27 wins by knockout.

After their 2015 showdown, it was revealed that Pacquiao fought with an injured right shoulder. His camp said it was healed by fight night, but he reinjured it during the match.
