Lamar Jackson has been named the NFL's Most Valuable Player of the 2019 season. And secured the honor with all 50 first-place votes.
The Ravens quarterback was a favorite to win MVP, following his record-breaking season that led his team to the top of the AFC. Jackson finished the season with a league-leading 43 touchdowns, a franchise-record of 36 passing scores, a 113.3 passing rating (the third-highest in the league, and 1,206 rushing yards (surpassing Michael Vick's 2006 single-season rushing record for a QB).
Jackson is also the second unanimous MVP in league history, following Tom Brady in 2010. According to ESPN, Jackson is also the youngest QB to ever receive the honor, finishing the season at 22 years and 356 days old. Jim Brown, who won MVP at ages 21 and 22 in 1957 and 1958, is the only athlete to be named MVP at a younger age.
"I’m still young," Jackson told reporters after winning the award. "I’ve still got a lot of work to do. I’m not really trying to dwell on what I just did. If I win a Super Bowl, you’ll probably see a lot more emotion."
