It looks like the new year will finally bring us our first real look at Zion Williamson in the NBA.

The Athletic's Shams Charania reported on Tuesday that the Pelicans are looking to start off the decade by having Williamson make his highly anticipated NBA debut in January.

“I’m told both sides are hopeful of a January season debut for (Zion) Williamson.”

"Both sides are hopeful for a January season debut for Williamson," Charania said.

Williamson suffered a torn meniscus in October that required surgery. The initial recovery time for his injury was 6 to 8 weeks, but the Pelicans have refrained from rushing the no. 1 draft pick on to the court. During his rehab, New Orleans has reportedly been working on Williamson's kinetic chain to reduce his chances of being injured in the future.

All of this patience has seemingly paid off. Williamson was spotted on the practice court with the team earlier this month. He's also been throwing down dunks during the Pelicans' pre-game warm-ups.
