As the Dallas Cowboys and Ezekiel Elliott continue to inch closer to a contract extension, Terrell Owens had some words of advice for Cowboys owner Jerry Jones: "Pay the man."

TMZ Sports caught up with Owens outside of Delilah in West Hollywood early Monday morning to get his thoughts on the ongoing contract negotiations between Elliott and the Cowboys. The former Cowboys wide receiver uttered those three words in regards to Zeke on three separate occasions during his interaction with a TMZ reporter, which was less than a minute long.

You can watch the exchange up top.

While T.O. may believe that it's as simple as throwing the bag at Elliott, both sides are reportedly hammering out all the details of a new contract that will appease each party. According to Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, both sides have closed the gap on guaranteed money, but "back loaded structure is the issue."

The Cowboys appear confident in their chances of getting a deal before their Week 1 game against the New York Giants next Sunday judging from their willingness to cut three running backs, leaving them with only two players at the position on their final 53-man roster.

It will be interesting to see where both sides can find common ground since the Cowboys were adamant early on that they weren't willing to match or surpass the four-year, $57.5 million extension that Todd Gurley signed with the Los Angeles Rams, which made him the highest-paid running back in the league. The clock keeps running, and Dallas has less than a week left.
