Earlier this week, everyone took a second to point and laugh at the Los Angeles Lakers. Though they had managed to land Anthony Davis, the particulars of the deal left them hard up for cap space and seemingly scrambling to free up any money they could. But somehow, some way, these Lakers managed to pull off a coup, convincing Davis to waive his bonus and find homes for some of their pricier non-star contracts so that they could pursue yet another NBA A-lister.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news on Twitter, noting that the waiver plus their recent trades freed up space for another max contract on their roster.

One potential name for the suddenly flush Lakers? Reigning champ and SoCal native Kawhi Leonard.

The news left Lakers fans ecstatic, as the team will enter a stacked free agent market with the ability to offer a top-dollar contract to a host of freed up superstars. The excitement wasn't just felt by the Staples Center ticketholders. Folks who call it the office were just as excited, as Kyle Kuzma's tweet illustrates.

As for the team that already exists, it seems like they are geling pretty well. It even looks like LeBron James has given up the number 23 to recent recruit Davis and will don 6 instead.
