Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Derrick Rose could be heading to the Detroit Pistons, according to The Athletic's Frank Isola. ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported on Friday that the Los Angeles Lakers were interested in pursuing Rose, but now it's looking like the Pistons are emerging as the favorite.

Ever since he was traded away from the Chicago Bulls in 2016, the 30-year-old former MVP hasn't stuck with a team for too long. Rose's 2018-19 season saw him bounce back after a number of injuries kept him from playing his best. His 18 points-per-game season included a career-high 50 points against Utah Jazz last October. Rose's long-range jumper got sharper, too; his 37 percent three-point shooting is a career high.

Rose put those numbers up under Tom Thibodeau, who coached him during his prime years in Chicago. Thibodeau was fired from Minnesota back in January in the midst of another underwhelming season. While the Timberwolves figure out what's next for them in a suddenly wide open West, the East might have to consider what a squad featuring Rose, Blake Griffin, and Andre Drummond looks like.
