Just days after unearthed surveillance video of an attack led to the Kansas City Chiefs cutting running back Kareem Hunt, TMZ is now reporting that it has acquired a police report filed by a man who says he was attacked by Hunt back in January. The 2017 NFL rushing leader wasn't arrested at the time. The accuser says the alleged incident happened at 2 a.m. on January 7, 2018 at a nightclub, shortly after the Chiefs were eliminated from the playoffs by the Titans. The police report was filed four days later, and says that the man witnessed his friend being shoved by three men (one of whom was allegedly ex-KC practice squad running back George Atkinson).
The accuser says he confronted Atkinson, who subsequently punched in the shoulder. He says he fought back, but was beaten by the group, which of course included Hunt. He says he was hit a number of times, and was knocked unconscious as a result. He told the cops that he was treated at a nearby emergency room for "a broken rib, broken nose and multiple bruises and contusions."
At the time, the police noted that he had cuts on his mouth when filing the report. The man says he initially did not want to file a report, but his family convinced him to do it anyway. No charges were filed, and no arrest was made, due to lack of cooperation by the alleged victim with investigators. This most recent revelation is the third accusation of violence that has been made against Hunt in 2018. In addition to the February attack that ultimately led to his release from Kansas City, Hunt has also been accused of punching a man in the face at an Ohio resort this past June.
