Draymond Green on DeMarcus Cousins: 'We're Probably Gonna Clash, and that's OK'

Draymond Green is good friends with DeMarcus Cousins. Perhaps that's why he's so sure they'll end up getting into a fight before this Warriors season ends.

The perception of DeMarcus Cousins leans heavily on his cantankerous demeanor both on the court and off. A similar prickly personality is attributed to his new teammate, Draymond Green. Thwarting notions that only opposites attract, the two are friends, routinely clowning each other while playing for Team USA at the 2016 Olympics, and performing good deeds with no apparent motive other than friendship and humor. Perhaps that's why Draymond can say with such certainty that they'll likely clash at least once over the course of their first season together on the same team.

Green said as much to ESPN's Sam Alipour for a special ESPN produced in Tokyo, Japan. (They start talking Boogie three minutes in.)

Alipour brings up Green's reported pitch to Cousins to join the Warriors, where he supposedly joked, "I'm pretty sure me and you are going to fight." Green confirmed what he said to Cousins and explained why he thinks so:

"I did joke. The fact of the matter is, it's probably true. We're actually really good friends. But, I know Boogie. Obviously, I know myself. We're probably gonna clash. And that's OK. Whatever happens, we move on, and we go destroy whoever's next in line."

Green's whole ethos is pushing buttons. Whether it's using an Arthur meme to stick it to LeBron, giving coach Steve Kerr the silent treatment, yapping at Kevin Durant to start acting like a superstar, or mocking Cleveland's Tristan Thompson on and off the court, Draymond lives to taunt, rib and mess with opponents and teammates alike. In the same vein, Cousins is no stranger to butting heads, and he's long since replaced Rasheed Wallace as the biggest thorn in the side of NBA refs.

What could possibly happen when two equally combustible personalities are thrown together in the locker room of the overwhelming title favorites? The question's rhetorical; Draymond already told us.
