No, this isn't Conor McGregor:
But it seemed like it on first glance. Tampa Bay Buccaneers backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, the former middling AFC East QB for the Jets and Bills who was perhaps best known for graduating from Harvard, is playing with the confidence of the pugilistic Irishman he resembled in his post-game attire.
The outfit came after his second consecutive monster game to lead the Buccaneers over the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles, 27-21, on Sunday. For the game, he completed 27 of 33 passes with four touchdowns and his first pick of the year. This came after passing for a career-high 417 yards and another four touchdowns in a shootout win against the Saints in week 1.
Fitz started the offensive fireworks on the very first play from scrimmage, when he found former Eagle DeSean Jackson on a slant route over the middle for a 75-yard score:
But that was only the beginning...
When you play that well to get the win over the Eagles, Jackson loans you his threads for the post-game presser:
But, it also meant Fitz couldn't answer as many questions:
"We just have to stay humble,'' Fitzpatrick said while somehow keeping a straight face. "We've got to make sure we know how to handle success and all those things. We can't change who we are.''
The internet, as always, had some fun with Fitzy's new look:
Fitzpatrick's undergrad degree at Cambridge juxtaposed nicely with the bling, too:
However, not everything Fitzy wore in the post-game presser belonged to Jackson. "The chest hair is mine," Fitzpatrick confirmed.
Jameis Winston better watch out.
