Nike may have fallen victim to a possible data breach this week by the ransomware group World Leaks. News of the potential breach was initially reported by Cyber Daily.

On Thursday, cybersecurity analysts discovered that World Leaks listed Nike as its latest victim on its website. At the time of writing, the hackers have yet to reveal what data they have potentially infiltrated.

According to the aforementioned publication, the hacker group was previously known as Hunters International and operated as a "double extortion operation," meaning that they would steal data from companies and then force them to pay for the data not to be leaked.

Nike has confirmed to Complex that it is aware of the potential data breach and is looking into the matter, as seen in the statement below. Check back soon for new updates.

"We always take consumer privacy and data security very seriously. We are investigating a potential cybersecurity incident and are actively assessing the situation."
