As previously confirmed to be released as part of the "Year of the Mamba" collection, the "Masterpiece" Nike Kobe 9 Elite is returning to retailers tomorrow.
Designed by Eric Avar, Kobe Bryant's ninth signature basketball shoe debuted in February 2014 in this multicolored "Masterpiece" colorway. The Kobe 9 was a significant departure from the design ideology of the Black Mamba's past few designs by shifting to a high-cut silhouette instead of a low-top as he made his way back onto the court following an Achilles tear in 2013.
This Protro version of the Kobe 9 has updated design elements, including React cushioning for enhanced responsiveness and added exterior grip on the outsole for better traction. Much like the original, the shoe features a multicolored Flyknit upper and red threads on the heel, referencing Bryant's comeback from his Achilles injury.
Readers can cop this "Masterpiece" Nike Kobe 9 Protro tomorrow, Feb. 8, via SNKRS and at select retailers for $240.
