Last week, we covered the heartwarming story of 26-year-old Matt Neal of Ann Arbor, Mich. and his attempt to trade one of the year's most coveted sneakers, the adidas Yeezy Boost 350, for a new kidney. Now, thanks to an exclusive interview with Sole Collector, we're learning more about Neal's search and the legal barriers that make it so complicated.
"All the people that are offering under the age of 21, the first thing I say is they need to talk to their parents. My little brother is 19 and he wanted to do it," Neal said. "I wouldn’t even let him go get tested cause he’s only 19 years old. If he has kids one day he wouldn’t even be able to give them a kidney in case something happened. It’s a huge decision."
A huge decision indeed. Thankfully, Neal's post has since blown up, getting coverage from outlets like TMZ, and he's been overwhelmed with people reaching out looking to donate. And by "donate," we mean a genuine donation — Neal says most people don't even want his Yeezys.
