Michael Jordan's rookie season is most frequently associated with the "Banned" and "Chicago" Air Jordan 1 colorways, but Jordan Brand is switching things up this fall with a new colorway paying homage to MJ's Rookie of the Year win.
More specifically, pinoe77Â says the fall-appropriate colorway takes its inspiration from the button-up shirt Jordan wore while receiving the award in 1985. The new make up will reportedly make use of a wheat-colored suede with color blocking reminiscent of other upcoming styles including the "Court Purple" and "Pine Green" Air Jordan 1s.
This "Rookie of the Year" Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG is expected to drop in October for $160.
UPDATE (07/25): A first look at what is believed to be the "Rookie of the Year" Air Jordan 1 has surfaced, courtesy of @sneakerjamz on Instagram. The pair sports a white tumbled leather and light brown nubuck upper with black accents on the heel and Swoosh. While it isn't clearly visible in this new photo, a quote is written in black on the inner flap that could potentially be a piece of MJ's acceptance speech in 1985.Â
UPDATE (10/01): Jordan Brand has officially unveiled the "Rookie of the Year" Air Jordan 1 alongside the rest of its Holiday 2018 women's collection, although it will be releasing in unisex sizing.
