For a couple of weeks now, we’ve been hearing rumblings about a new collaborative drop from Skepta and Puma.

The grime star made his first foray into the sneaker world when he connected with Nike for the SK Air Line before inking his deal with Puma in 2022. He made his debut with the brand later that year with the RS-X, but between making his directorial debut and working on the Mas Tiempo brand, it seemed like things were relatively quiet on the Puma front.

That all changed late last month when the BBK icon set up a finsta to document the BTS process of putting together the next collaboration. Eventually, word got out and anticipation for the shoe climbed quickly.

The Forever Black sneaker has now been officially announced and it’s expected to drop May 18. And by the sounds of things, Skep was given a lot of control over the design and he’s created a pretty unique silhouette.

The sneaker incorporates rounded cut-outs that show the black mesh underneath, a reflective motif to contrast against the deep black, and the customary co-branding on the heel counter and tongue.

Skepta reportedly also took a lot of inspiration from older Puma designs, including the metallic elements, the alternate yellow and orange laces and the all-chrome box the shoe will be packaged in.

The new Skepta x Puma collab hits the Puma webstore on May 18.
