Anyone that’s familiar with Benjamin Kickz, whose real name is Benjamin Kapelushnik, has likely come across at least one of his viral sneaker photos of him posted up in bundles of limited sneakers. Now, it appears that the 22-year-old reseller is providing insight into how he’s amassing his deep inventory.
In a now-deleted Instagram story in response to Nice Kicks about the possible backdooring of the recent Union x Air Jordan 2 collab, Ben Kickz speculated that the brands themselves may be to blame for how he’s acquiring hordes of the coveted shoes.
“Everyone blaming Union and it’s so funny cause idk what everyone doesn’t understand. I been doing this and I keep doing this,” Ben Kickz wrote. “My ‘back door’ so big only I can stop me! I been doing it since 2016 and I love it here. Every release you guys blame a new store…. What if my back door isn’t a store but it’s the …….. themselves.”
Allegations about sneaker stores selling their limited sneakers early have been around for some time now. A recent example of this was last year’s release of the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 “Freeze Out” collab, where sources told Complex that Trophy Room sold a sizeable portion of its stock to resellers for well over the $190 retail price ahead of the release date.
Despite the speculations, Benjamin Kickz has not actually confirmed the source behind his massive inventory of limited sneakers.
