Following the unprecedented success of the Air Jordan 1 in 1985, Bruce Kilgore led Nike's design team in creating a follow-up signature model befitting Michael Jordan's refined sense of style. To achieve that goal, Kilgore and a young Mark Parker traveled to Italy, where footwear manufacturing was highly regarded and premium craftsmanship was the standard. The result was the Air Jordan 2, a shoe that greatly deviated from the original due to its unique cut, exotic materials, and dress shoe detailing. Now, Jordan Brand is celebrating the model's originals with a new colorway.
Dubbed "Italy," this pair inherits the original white and red scheme with the addition of green on the heel to represent the colors of the Italian flag. There's also a pre-yellowed treatment on the middle eyelets and midsole for vintage aesthetic.
Expect the "Italy" Air Jordan 2 to release on Saturday, November 18 for $175.
