12. Nike Bermuda
The Nike Bermuda was basically a dry run for future Nike running experiments. That bizarre mesh toe was a huge inspiration on the Sock Racer, the Air Current and Flow's truly insane looking running tight inspired forefoot, the Huarache and ultimately the Presto. Add a waffle sole and variable width lacing and you've got one of the most experimental running shoes of the 1970s. With a new decade around the corner, this is the kind of thing that pushed Nike to first place later down the line. Rebel footwear.
