2022 Golden Globes Reportedly Hasn't Locked In Any Celebrity Presenters

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is facing another setback after it was reported that no celebrities agreed to present an award at the Golden Globes.

The Golden Globes will be a lot less star-studded this year.

According to Variety, there will be no celebrities presenting at Sunday’s affair, after an email from the Globes’ talent booker seeking celebrities to present awards went unanswered.

“The Golden Globes will move forward with a small event on January 9th that will not only award the best performances in television and film for 2021, but also on recognizing the importance of supporting diverse creatives across the industry,” the email said.

“The event this year will celebrate and honor a variety of diverse, community-based programs that empower inclusive filmmakers and journalists to pursue their storytelling passions,” it continued. “The HFPA has financially supported important underserved organizations for decades and will continue to invest in the future leaders of our industry.”

The email also outlined the event’s strict COVID-19 protocols, which includes a limited number of guests, and full vaccination, booster shot, and negative PCR test requirements.

This latest news is another major setback for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which was already mired in controversy earlier this year due to a lack of representation and diversity among its members, who are the ones charged with determining who gets nominated and ultimately, who wins. NBC decided not to broadcast the ceremony, so it’s no real surprise that Hollywood has basically turned its back on the once beloved telecast, and everything that comes with it. According to a press release, the winners will be announced from the Beverly Hilton at 6 p.m. PT.

Additionally, there will be no red carpet, Page Six reports. HFPA president Helen Hoehn alluded to this when she and Snoop Dogg revealed the nominees on Dec. 13.

“I think we all know that it’s not going to be a celebrity-driven event that it has been in the past—no red carpet and nothing flashy,” she said.
