If there’s one thing people love, it’s drama, and after Chris Rock was slapped on national television by Will Smith for disrespecting Jada Pinkett Smith, people apparently lunged at the opportunity to buy tickets for the comedian’s upcoming tour.

According to Variety, secondary ticket purchasing site TickPick reported that they had sold more tickets for Rock’s shows last night than they had in the entire past month.

TickPick added that the price for the tickets on the secondary market jumped over 200 percent, from $46 per ticket on March 18 to a minimum of $341 now.

Rock is headed on his Ego Death World Tour and will perform alongside Kevin Hart, in what they’re calling Only Headliners Allowed, for a few dates later this summer at locations in New York and New Jersey.

“Ego Death World Tour 2022 all new material introspective very personal and very funny,” Rock wrote in the caption announcing the tour. “Can’t wait to show you. The link for tickets is in my bio.”

Ego Death World Tour will also mark Rock’s first comedy tour in over five years. It’s set to make stops in 30 cities, and Rock is also scheduled to be performing at Boston’s Wilbur Theatre from March 30 through April 1. Tickets for that show are still available on the secondary market.

“Lauded by peers and critics alike, Chris Rock is one of our generation’s strongest comedic voices,” Live Nation said of Rock in a statement, per Variety. “With a career spanning more than three decades, Rock has enjoyed ongoing success in both film and television as a comedian, actor, writer, producer and director.”

Given the media hailstorm around the incident at the Oscars, Will’s slap is likely to be a topic of conversation during the show.
