How You Can Take a Filmmaking Class Taught by Spike Lee

Spike Lee is ready to teach what he knows to aspiring filmmakers everywhere.

Spike Lee will be teaching filmmaking to the world—or at least anyone who signs up for his online class.

Earlier today, MasterClass announced that Lee will be joining their impressive lineup of creatives like Martin Scorsese, Samuel L. Jackson, Shonda Rhimes, and Serena Williams, to teach classes with the company.

“There are no absolute truths in filmmaking and no one way to be a filmmaker,” Lee said explained in a statement. “I’ve learned in 30 years things that I can give back. I’m teaching this MasterClass because very few people get to sit in my classes at NYU, so this is an opportunity for me to share what I’ve learned with as many students as possible, no matter where they are in their film career.”

Lee will reportedly teach all aspects of creating a film off the script, including camerawork, working with actors, financing, and scoring the film. In addition to video lessons, there are also "interactive exercises, course materials, peer interaction, and more."

For lifetime access to the class, aspiring filmmakers can pay $90. MasterClass also offers an All-Access Pass for $180, which allows unlimited access to previous classes and any additional classes they'll add in the future as well. Both offers can be found here.
