World's Largest McDonald's Closing to Make Room for Even Bigger One

Supersize it.

In blessed America, to supersize is to bless one with a lifetime of patriotic largeness. In that spirit, the world's largest McDonald's has officially closed its doors for a pretty on-brand reason: a bigger, more McDonalds-y version of itself. The franchises's iconic, fry-shaped structure in Orlando served its last batch of hot-and-fresh pride on Wednesday night before going gently into that good night around 11.

Oerther Foods tells the Orlando Sentinel that a "new, state-of-the-art replacement restaurant" is nearing completion right next door. This particular McDonald's has remained a blockbuster tourism destination since first opening way back in 1976, a year so egregiously ancient that Star Wars wasn't even a thing yet.

The new and improved McDonald's will reportedly boast 19,000 square feet of quickly prepared nourishment and general Ronald McDonald shenanigans, which may or may not include staples of the previous incarnation such as bowling and arcade games. Nice flex, Florida.
