When you're cuddled up beneath a blanket with your iPhone, iPad, MacBook, and Apple Watch while renting some blockbusters via iTunes on your Apple TV, you're probably wondering if you're using the most critically acclaimed and so-called "best" apps available. As we're now nearing the end of a pretty wild 2015, Apple has swiftly unveiled their picks for the best iOS apps of the year, a curated selection of the best the future has to offer.
Apple quietly released their picks, including a few surprises, on Wednesday with the following nod to the joy of innovation:
Apple placed Periscope, The Robot Factory, Affinity Photo, HBO Now, and Dark Sky at the top of the pile across its five developer platforms. The Lara Croft GO iPhone game nabbed the Game of the Year distinction, with Fallout Shelter and Mr Jump getting commendable Runner-Up nods. Workflow, an app essentially designed to make your life less of a marathon of stress, was deservedly named Most Innovative.
Peep the full list of selections for each platform, including the most downloaded apps of the year (Instagram and the usual suspects make predictably strong showings), in the App Store now.
