Paramount has given Sonic the Hedgehog a new trailer ahead of its revised release date.

As you'll recall, the Jeff Fowler-directed adaptation of the popular Sega franchise was originally slated for a Nov. 8 release date. Those plans, however, were abandoned following the negative response the design of this cinematic take on the character received earlier this year.

The new trailer, out Tuesday, shows a wisely redesigned Sonic that should do a much better job at satiating fans.

Sonic the Hedgehog stars Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, Tika Sumpter, and James Marsden. The movie now opens Feb. 14.

Back in May, Fowler assured fans that their message of design disapproval had been heard.

"Thank you for the support. And the criticism," Fowler said at the time. "The message is loud and clear... You aren't happy with the design [and] you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount [and] Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be."

Later that same month, Fowler announced the film's new Valentine's Day release date:

Speaking with Collider earlier this year, Carrey—who plays Dr. Ivo Eggman Robotnik in the film—detailed what drew him to the project.

"Pure fun," he said. "That's how I operate these days. If it's something that I think I can explore a new side of myself or actually kinda go back and hit that really absurd energy that people really love. The Ace Venturas and those types of characters, it was an opportunity to do that again, or the Grinch or things like that. It's always fun territory to step back into. It just suspends all care to me. Evil is fun. And also, intelligence is really funny if it's accompanied with a warped ego."
