Matt Damon isn't in the business of judging the apparently permanent back-murals of his friends.
During an interview with Trevor Noah on Wednesday's Daily Show, Damon was asked about the recent resurgence of his Oscar-winning Good Will Hunting collaborator's massive back tattoo. "Unfortunately, I can't seem to shake him," Damon, who appeared alongside Gary White to talk WaterEquity, said of his friendship with Affleck. "I've known him since I was 10, so that's 37 years."
When Noah questioned how a friend could let another friend get a back tattoo "of a colorful dragon," Damon gave the most friendy answer possible. "It's not one man's job to tell another man what he can do to his back," he said. "I support him in all of his artistic expression."
Ben Affleck's dragon was initially thought to be a temporary fake. Back in 2016, Affleck said as much. "I actually do have a number of tattoos," he told Mario Lopez at the time. "I try to have them in places where you don't have to do a lot of cover-up." When the dragon started popping up in pics snapped by annoying wannabe photographers earlier this month, however, that fakeness was called into question.
