Bill Clinton has a burger named after him. Barack Obama has a cookie named after him. And now, thanks to an innovative sandwich shop in Windsor, Ontario, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump joins the hallowed list of United States politicians with food items named after them.

Welcome to the world, Trump Sandwich.

According to the Windsor sandwich shop's Facebook page, the ingredients for this sandwich are quite simple. Cram two pieces of white bread with a whole lot of bologna, serve with a side of Russian dressing and a little pickle, and surround the whole thing with a wall of “Mexican chips.” The sandwich’s introductory Facebook post also came with a disclaimer: “if you come in to order this you may not get what you were told you were buying.”

Perhaps not the most appealing lunch option, but undeniably flavourful in the symbolism department.

The sandwich was created by the sandwich shop’s owner, Lawrence Lavender, a dual-citizen of Canada and the United States. This may come as a surprise, but he is not a Trump supporter.

"I'm certainly not a fan of his. He's dangerous. He has a thin skin. He's all fluff, no substance," Lavender told CBC.

"Whoever is the president of the United States has an effect globally. We are literally right across the water from them," Lavender said, touching on Windsor’s proximity to Detroit. "In addition to that, I'm a dual-citizen and I do actually care about what happens in my other country, as well."

Of course, the shop owner, who is registered to vote in Florida, also plans to cast a ballot, just as he "always has and always will.”

Until voting time comes, however, Lavender can rest assured that he’s made monumental contributions to both the culinary world, and to the arena of United States politics.
