He was wondering why he kept being overlooked, then Fred Armisen told him, "I didn’t even know you spoke English."

You might think after he rose to fame on Game of ThronesJason Momoa had casting directors clamoring to work with him. But it turns out it's not easy to find work after you've been typecast as Drogo—especially if people are convinced you only speak Dothraki.

On The Tonight Show, Momoa recounted a meeting with Fred Armisen, who told him, "I didn’t even know you spoke English." That's when it hit him why he hadn't been booking gigs. "Yeah, not a lot of people thought I spoke English," he said. "It was very challenging."

But it wasn't just the perceived language barrier. People also more generally had trouble picturing him as anyone but Drogo. After all, not many movies or TV shows have a character like him. "You’re not gonna put him in a comedy," he pointed out.

Thankfully, it looks like people have gotten over seeing him exclusively as Dothraki-speaking Drogo, because he's since landed parts in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and the upcoming Aquaman

Speaking of which, he embodied the latter role on The Tonight Show by facing Jimmy Fallon in a game of Water War, where the winner of each round of the card game War splashed the other in the face with a glass of water. Momoa won by a long-shot, and he made sure to splash Fallon with force. Moral of the story: don't mess with Aquaman, and definitely don't mess with Khal Drogo.
