Here's Why You'll Want to Stick Around For the 'Once Upon a Deadpool' Post-Credits Scene

In theaters now is Fox's Once Upon a Deadpool, which is quite literally a PG-13 version of the box office hit Deadpool 2, featuring a grown-ass Fred Savage parodying his iconic The Princess Bride role with Deadpool for the LOLs. The film is practically identical to the version that hit theaters back in May, but with way less gore and far fewer dirty words. The mid-credits scene is mostly intact, but there is an extra special addition added to the very end of the film after the credits.

Being the first Marvel film to hit theaters after Stan Lee's passing back in November, there's a special segment dedicated to Stan's memory after the credits finish rolling. For those who don't know, Lee's face is featured a few times in the film, but they did shoot some pick-up scenes of Lee reacting to Deadpool's costume (even one funny line where Lee questions why his suit isn't green). A few of those air after the credits roll, with interview footage of Lee sharing his thoughts on his legacy in an interview. "I don't think about it that much, you know? When I'm gone, I really don't care." They then shared Lee's signature with 1923 - 2018 underneath. A touching surprise for fans still reeling from the loss of this legend.

This brings about an interesting question: how will Marvel Studios be paying tribute to Stan Lee? There was word that he'd shot a number of cameos for future films, so you shouldn't be surprised if he shows up in Captain MarvelAvengers: Endgame, and/or Spider-Man: Far From Home, but will there be any bigger tributes being paid after their credits? We'll have to wait until next year, but props on Ryan Reynolds and company working this tribute into Once Upon a Deadpool while they could.

Once Upon a Deadpool is in theaters from December 12 through December 24, with $1 from each ticket sold going to Fudge Cancer.
