After yesterday’s mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon which left 10 dead and 7 injured, the topic of gun control rose back to the forefront of conversations. Those who seek stricter laws say it would help prevent dangerous weapons from falling into the wrong hands while others see it as a violation of the 2nd Amendment.

Mother Jones reports that John Hanlin, the sheriff who responded to the campus shooting, is a supporter of the latter. In a letter addressed to Vice President Joe Biden on January 15, 2013, the sheriff in Douglas County wrote that "gun control is NOT the answer to preventing heinous crimes like school shootings."
