Serial already conquered iTunes, won a Peabody Award, and was even optioned for two additional seasons. Now, it looks like the popular podcast is headed to a television near you. Deadline reports that Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, the team behind the Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, are developing a cable series to chronical the making of the hit podcast as it follows a case.
The duo will be working with creators Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder, who launched the spinoff of This American’s Life back in October of 2014. “Chris and Phil take an unexpected approach to telling stories and that is so appealing to us at Serial,” Snyder said. “Developing a show with them is exciting because we feel like we speak the same language, only they’re smarter than us.”
The podcast has already been confirmed for at least two more seasons but not many more details have been released beyond that. Apparently, they don’t really like talking about projects in progress to the press. Here’s what production manager Emily Condontold journalists when they inquired about a possible case for the new season:
