Jonathan Majors' 'Magazine Dreams' Pulled From Disney's Release Calendar Following Guilty Verdict

The drama film was originally scheduled for a theatrical premiere on Dec. 4.

The release of the Jonathan Majors-starring drama Magazine Dreams has been postponed indefinitely.

On Monday, the Creed III actor was found guilty of assault and harassment involving his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. Majors was quickly removed from the Marvel slate after making his debut as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania earlier this year. Now, it looks like Magazine Dreams will be next on the chopping block just two months after it was pulled from Disney's release schedule.

According to Entertainment Weekly, in October, Disney changed the Magazine Dreams release date to "unset" after it was originally scheduled for Dec. 4. The directorial debut of Elijah Bynum, Magazine Dreams had its world premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival and also stars Haley Bennett, Taylour Paige, and Mike O'Hearn. Now, some are speculating that the bodybuilding drama will never be released due to Majors' guilty verdict.

I do, on occasion, think of the Magazine Dreams writer-director Elijah Bynum & how it’s never seeing the light of day & wonder how that has affected his career trajectory being tied to Jonathan Majors as it was the next big film starring him. Like I’d be cussing him out, idk.

Not that it really matters in light of the circumstances, but I do not see a world in which MAGAZINE DREAMS comes out, least of all from Disney/Searchlight, and feel just awful for the rest of the cast and crew that worked on it.

Cue all of us critics who raved about how "transformative" he was in MAGAZINE DREAMS desperately trying to memory hole our reviews https://t.co/aIwIRrc2Ud

I don’t know anything about the people who made MAGAZINE DREAMS but I do wonder what it’s like to realize a year or two of your life will now probably just sit on a shelf forever.

Majors' behavior on the Magazine Dreams set was allegedly volatile, with anonymous production members telling Rolling Stone in June that the actor chalked it up to method acting. "I've heard of different method actors and how their behavior is, but none of them are violent or rude toward their crew," one source said.

However, Majors' attorney, Dustin A. Pusch, denied the allegations, calling them "downright false." "Everyone who has worked with Mr. Majors knows that he employs an immersive Method acting style, and while that can be misconstrued as rudeness at times, those who know Mr. Majors and work in the industry have attested to his dedication to his craft as well as his kindness," Pusch stated.

Shortly after he was arrested on Mar. 25 for a reported domestic dispute with Jabbari, he was dropped from an adaptation of the Walter Mosley novel The Man in My Basement, along with an Otis Redding biopic Otis and Zelma. Majors also parted ways with his public relations manager The Lede Company and talent management Entertainment 360. The U.S. Army also removed Majors' image and narration from their recruitment campaign.

Although Majors reprised his role as Kang in the second season of Loki, which was filmed before his arrest, Marvel was reportedly "in crisis" over the character before dropping Majors from the MCU.

Majors, who faces up to one year in prison, is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 6, 2024.
