The Star Wars universe continues to expand as Disney+ releases the first teaser trailer for its upcoming series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Ewan McGregor is returning to reprise his role as the Jedi master and Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian) is directing. McGregor played Kenobi through Star Wars – Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith from 1999-2005.

The official synopsis for the new series reads, “The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of [Episode III] where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.”

Hayden Christensen will also return to his role as the corrupted Anakin Skywalker turned Darth Vader. Back in November, Disney+ dropped a behind-the-scenes look at the series that featured McGregor and Chow talking about how excited they were to explore this classic Star Wars character in a new way.

“We couldn’t tell the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi without addressing Anakin or Vader,” Chow said in the video.

McGregor added, “The most beautiful thing of all is that it’s brought me back together with Hayden. Having another swing at each other might be satisfying for everybody.”
