Original Avengers Assemble to Get Matching Tattoos

Prior to Marvel putting in just about every character they could legally add to the Avengers roster, there were but six OG representatives of the superhero team when the first movie in the franchise dropped in 2012 (seems longer than that). Those six were: Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and also Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

In order to commemorate their representation of those heroes, five of those six actors (meaning everyone but Ruffalo) got matching tattoo's of the Marvel A-team's logo from New York based artist Josh Lord. In fact, you can see Robert Downey Jr. get inked up since he put several pictures/clips of him getting that tat up on his Instagram:

Now you may have noticed a lack of Chris Evans in the footage above. According to what Robert Downey told Entertainment Weekly, Evans already got his in New York prior to Lord being flown out to L.A.

"Five of the original six Avengers got a tattoo," Downey said. "And the sixth was the tattoo artist, who gave it to five of us, the one who opted out being Mark Ruffalo. It was (Scarlett) Johansson’s idea, and she and (Chris) Evans did it in New York. Then, their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing, flew out to LA, he did me, did (Jeremy) Renner, and then we just bullied (Chris) Hemsworth into doing it, and he got it. And each one of us drew a line on the artist with his own tattoo gun and it was a total massacre. Each of us contributed to giving the tattoo artist the sixth tattoo that he designed for us. By the way, he’s got another one on him that Scarlett did, which is beautiful, which is crazy, because the line she drew on him, which was just supposed to be a straight line, looked like a lightning bolt. It was a mess."
