What do guys really want? Equal representation of the sexes in video games, it turns out. A new study found that teenage boys want to see more female characters in video games, and are tired of those characters looking like Kate Upton. Of 1,400 teenagers surveyed, 47% of middle school boys and 61% of high school boys said they are tired of video game female characters being treated like sex objects. (Go teenage dudes!) Some youngsters even said the sexual objectification of women in video games made it harder for them to enjoy playing.

Fifty-five percent of boys said there should be more female superheroes in video games, which is cool, because girls who play video games wouldn't mind that, either. The same study found that girl gamers prefer playing female characters, and that they feel more strongly about this as they get older. Take note, video game writers.
