The 25 Hottest Singer Characters On TV Shows

Tonight ABC will premiere Nashville (10 p.m. ET), a drama set in the country music world that is arguably the most heavily promoted and most anticipated new series of the fall TV season. We have a feeling the network's marketing money will pay off, because the series stars two of the hottest actresses on both ends of the age spectrum. The alluring Connie Britton reps for the MILFs as an aging country star battling for dominance against a younger it-girl played by fellow dime piece Hayden Panettiere.

While the previews hint at an intriguing, engaging melodrama, we've already pledged our weekly allegiance based off of casting alone (much like we've done for shows with hot cop characters, hot lawyers, hot doctors, and hot neighbors) and the potential for a knock-down, drag-out catfight. Paula Brancati contributed to the never-ending melodrama of Degrassi during seasons seven through nine as troubled singer Jane Vaughn. She took up with Spinner and joined his band "Studz," ascending to lead singer status when the lead stud himself gets booted for being a meth fiend.

The rebel of the Fisher family usually channeled her surly attitude into some form of artistic expression, and while she wasn't a singer per se, she wasn't above bursting into choreographed song and dance in daydreams every once in a while.

After Saved by the Bell blew up, NBC looked to expand its lock on the so-cheesy-it's-great teen sitcom lane with California Dreams as its companion. Basically, imagine if the Bayside gang put more effort into Zack Attack, but with vastly less entertaining results. Protagonist Matt Garrison put the band together with his hot younger sister Jenny as the lead vocalist.

In the missing years between Boardwalk seasons two and three, Nucky and Margaret's relationship soured inevitably but Nucky's need for love and a connection remained. At some point in the gap he landed Billie Kent, an up and coming performer and a straight-up flapper. Or rather, she landed him.

Nucky's clearly a sucker for love, foolishly believing he can turn Miss Kent into a one-man woman despite her ever-busy phone line. Meanwhile she continues to cash in all the benefits of being on the arm of one of the most powerful men in the tri-state area.

Sage Baker is the typical spoiled brat who believes she has what it takes to be famous in no time at all, and thus feels no need for school. At least she's doing good in the looks department, but that's only half the battle. Most of the time. Actually, money? Looks? By today's pop music standards, that should guarantee her at least one single.

Played by: Lea Michele

Rachel Berry is the star of the Gleeks, and while she's not the traditional "hottest" member of New Directions (keep clicking to see who takes that spot) she definitely meets enough qualifications to be the club's face.

Played by: Jane Krakowski

Technically Jenna Maroney is an actress (and not a very good one) but the vain C-lister jumps on every opportunity she's given to stretch her pipes on TGS or elsewhere, sometimes even forcing a scenario just so she can shine.

Played by: Bethany Joy Lenz

Haley James instantly turned heads in Tree Hill High when she impulsively married basketball star Nathan Scott at the end of the show's first season, a marriage almost everyone predicted would be over within months. It lasted the length of the series but it wasn't without its roadblocks, biggest of which was Haley's decision to run off for awhile and pursue her dreams of being a singer.

She later found a way to balance being a wife, mother, and successful singer, because Tree Hill is where every character's wildest dreams and goals come true.

California Dreams attempted to match Saved by the Bell's obscenely high hot-chick bar, and they did well enough with a cast that included Kelly Packard as Tiffani, waitress by day, band bassist by night. Sadly, the California Dream band was no Zack Attack.

Singer Kate Voegele joined the cast of One Tree Hill in the back half of the series as Haley's bandmate and Peyton's label artist, boosting the show's already awesomely high hot actress percentage.

Played by: Naya Rivera

Santana starts the series as a cheerleader transplant in the glee club, second fiddle to fellow spy Quinn, but over time her character has progressed into more mature storylines as she develops romantic feelings for her best friend. Her best girl friend. Praise Naya Rivera for her courageousness, we watched from home with nothing but pride. Seriously, just pride, no other feelings.

At the start of Smash, Ivy is the more seasoned performer of the workshop, and the producer's favorite for the coveted role of Marilyn Monroe. By season's end, even her good looks can't put her above rival Karen Cartwright's in the race to get the lead, as the naive overtakes the native.

Drew played herself on The Game for a brief spell as Derwin's fling, and one of many roadbumps in his and Melanie's relationship.

While Kelly and Lisa coasted through school on their impossible good looks, Jessie managed to be sexy and good at everything else. In addition to being a brainiac, she danced in multiple school plays/talent shows, and also provided back-up vocals to Zack Attack. And of course, we all remember that she does a killer cover of "I'm So Excited."

Katharine McPhee wouldn't be the obvious choice to play Marilyn Monroe in real life, but on Smash she does well enough as the atypical heartland native, naive to the ways of the big city yet constantly winning because of her good looks.

The fourth season of Glee has the tall order of injecting new blood into the New Directions club while most of the original cast moves on to college. Introducing a crop of new characters this late into a series can be tricky, but so far they're already winning with the likes of sexy Melissa Benoist's Marley, ably filling the void Rachel and Quinn created.

Connie Britton plays fading country sensation Rayna James, an aging beauty struggling to compete with the new class. If we're to believe that Rayna has a shot at succeeding against the sexy likes of Hayden Panettiere, then we say they couldn't have cast anyone other than Connie to sell it.

Season five of the classic sitcom kicked off with Will discovering that cousin Ashley is packing some serious vocal chords. By that point, the series had long divorced itself from reality, so naturally over the course of two episodes Ashley is discovered, becomes a one-hit wonder, and flames out, restoring everything to the status quo.

Lowndes rounded out the cast of the '08 90210 reboot mid-first season, fulfilling the role every prestigious zip code requires as the girl who's an aspirational pop star but so far has only managed to succeed as the town drug fiend.

Played by: Leighton Meester

When she wasn't holding it down on Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester recurred on Entourage as virginal pop sensation Justine Chapin, Vince's "One That Got Away." Of course, Vince can only lose but for so long, and finally bagging Justine was step one in his season five quest to get his mojo back.

Rumor has it that Mark Paul Gosselear dated Lark Voorhies during filming, and we see why. Kelly may have been the baddest, but don't sleep on Lisa Turtle—Lark's recent downslide in looks be damned. She held Zack Attack down with not only back-up vocals, but bass guitar as well.

Quinn looks too hot to believably be a glee club member, which is why she more sensibly started out as a cheerleader. Over the course of the first season she changed her allegiance and became a full-on Gleek...while also birthing a child. Yeah, she's about that life.

Played by: Hayden Panettiere

Hayden's Juliette Barnes is set to impact tonight on ABC's heavily promoted new series Nashville as a Taylor Swift type rising country star. If the commercials are a solid indicator, she's also not above random on-the-road hookups. Consider us faithful viewers.

It may have only been a dream, but the baddest chick in Bayside took it all the way as the back-up singer of Zack Attack, Morris and co.'s breakaway teen band. In reality she probably could've gone just as far on looks alone.

On the latest season of Californication, Meagan Good had pretty much the whole cast under pressure as sultry R&B singer Kali, tempting Hank Moody to holler despite her homicidal boyfriend, Samurai Apocalypse (RZA). We'd say she's well worth the danger.
