With fall comes yet another slate of new series focused on lawyers, cops, and doctors. This year kicks off with an interesting twist on the medical drama: Instead of stressed-out M.D.'s working out their frustrations with closet quickies, Fox's The Mob Doctor, which premieres tonight at 9 p.m., follows a Chicago surgeon (Jordana Spiro) forced to do dirty work for a mobster (William Forsythe) to whom her family owes a debt. What part of the Hippocratic Oath is that?
Whether it sticks around or becomes the first casualty of the season is yet to be determined, but while we wait at least we'll have plenty of eye candy in Spiro and others. From the everlasting Grey's Anatomy to forgettable fare like Three Rivers, doctor shows are always guaranteed to have smart, fine women in their hospital halls.
