SNL continues to roll on after its first episode of 2020 featured Adam Driver and Halsey.
On Saturday night’s cold open, SNL returns to the impeachment, a hot political issue this past week. In a sketch titled “The Trial You Wish Had Happened,” viewers got to see versions of Judge Greg Mathis (Kenan Thompson), Mitch McConnell (Beck Bennett), Lindsey Graham (Kate McKinnon), and eventually John Bolton (Cecily Strong), who all give more entertainment sides of themselves as they conducted a trial with witnesses. Pete Davidson returns after being absent from last week’s episode as Hunter Biden.
And of course, Alec Baldwin continues his run as President Donald Trump.
In the latest as Trump’s impeachment trial heads to acquittal vote Wednesday (Feb. 5), the Senate voted against hearing any new witnesses and introducing new documents after Democrats pushed for two weeks. Trump is facing two articles of impeachment – abusing the power of his office and obstructing Congress in its investigation of his dealings with Ukraine.
