UPDATED 7/19/23, 8:30 p.m. ET: Joe Manganiello has officially filed for divorce from Sofia Vergara.

TMZ reports Manganiello's lawyer filed the documents, confirming the news. The filing states the couple legally separated due to "irreconcilable differences."

A prenuptial agreement is in place, and sources say Vergara will not oppose it.

The outlet alleges "a big reason" for the split is Manganiello wanting to have kids, while Vergara, who has a 31-year-old son, does not.

Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello are divorcing.

The former couple made the announcement on Monday, telling Page Six in a joint statement, "We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives."

According to an insider, the two had been “growing apart” and were “taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”

The last time the actors were spotted together was in June in Hoboken, New Jersey, when Vergara visited Manganiello on the set of his new movie Nonnas with Vince Vaughn. Now Vergara is celebrating her 51st birthday in Italy with her friends.

The pair started dating in 2014, got engaged six months later, then married in 2015. They didn’t have any children together; Vergara has a 31-year-old son, Manolo, with her ex-husband Joe Gonzalez.

This was Manganiello’s first marriage and Vergara’s second. She was with businessman Nick Loeb before getting together with Manganiello. She and Loeb ended their engagement in 2014, and in 2017, she filed legal paperwork to prevent Loeb from using embryos they made together in IVF. She eventually won the suit in 2021.
