Some people are criticizing Shay Mitchell for attending Drake’s birthday party after giving birth.
Just over a week ago, the Pretty Little Liars actress shared on Instagram that she and her partner Matte Babel had welcomed their first child together, a daughter. While she’d given her fans the inside scoop on her pregnancy through her Almost Ready YouTube series, she hadn’t revealed the day of her baby’s birth.
On Oct. 23, three days after posting a photo of her daughter, she shared videos of her and Babel at Drake’s 33rd birthday party, captioning one “Parents,” per US Weekly. The paparazzi also caught the pair leaving the club.
The couple’s outing upset some fans; Mitchell took to her Instagram Story to respond to the criticism. “I haven’t been really checking my comments that often, but apparently people are really upset that I left three days after having a kid to go out and party,” she said in the video while scrolling through the comments. “It wasn't three days and I left her with Angel, so,” she said, referencing her dog Angel as a joke.
Some of the comments the actress scrolled through read, “Wait. So you literally just had her and you’re more worried about clubbing with Drake? Wooow,” and, “Mother of the year award right here!!!! As if you seriously could leave your baby to go party?!!! I hope the child’s aid look into this and your abilities to be a good parent cause damn!!! Lacking some serious skills there sweety! #selfish.”
