Emma Watson Shows Off Her Singing Chops in the Latest 'Beauty and the Beast' Teaser

Emma Watson sings "Belle" in the latest teaser from 'Beauty and the Beast.'

The live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast is one of the most anticipated movies of 2017. Shortly after Disney released the film’s first official trailer, fans collectively went wild and made it the most-watched trailer of all time—an achievement previously held by 50 Shades of Grey.

This week, Disney dropped another exciting sneak peak that really highlights Emma Watson’s singing abilities. It’s also one of the most iconic scenes from the original animated film.

The one-minute video features the 26-year-old actress singing “Belle,” the opening number in Beauty and the Beast. The scene is pretty much identical to the one featured in the 1991 film: Watson, who plays Belle, is seen making her way around a busy village, singing about how mundane everything is. Though Watson’s voice lacks the power heard from the original Belle (voiced by actress Paige O'Hara), her singing skills do not disappoint.

In an interview with E! Online, Watson opened up about her concerns playing the iconic character, specifically the question of Stockholm syndrome.

"That's where a prisoner will take on the characteristics of and fall in love with the captor [...] She has none of the characteristics of someone with Stockholm syndrome because she keeps her independence; she keeps that freedom of thought," Watson explained. "I also think there is a very intentional switch where, in my mind, Belle decides to stay. She's giving him hell. There is no sense of 'I need to kill this guy with kindness.' Or any sense that she deserves this. In fact, she gives as good as she gets. He bangs on the door, she bangs back. There's this defiance that 'You think I'm going to come and eat dinner with you and I'm your prisoner—absolutely not.'"

You can check out the new preview above. Beauty and the Beast will hit theaters March 17.
