Stranger Things has reportedly set a new record.

According to Netflix, the hit series' third season was viewed by 64 million households during its first four weeks on the streaming service, making it the most-watched Stranger Things season to date. Netflix announced the figure in its quarterly shareholder letter Wednesday; however, it's important to note that a member account must watch at least 70 percent of a show or film before Netflix can count it as a "view."

Days after the premiere of Stranger Things 3, Netflix announced 40.7 million accounts watched the series within the first four days of its July 4 debut, which had never been done by any other program within that time frame. Though Nielsen later reported that the third season did break records, the firm found that they garnered an average minute audience of  just 12.8 million viewers from July 4 to July 7. Nielsen also said the first episode of season 3 racked up 19.17 million views within its first four days, besting the previous season premiere by about 2 million. It's also worth noting that Netflix has previously criticized Nielsen's rating system as inaccurate.

The streaming service renewed Stranger Things for a fourth season back in September, and have announced a multiyear film and series deal with its creators Matt and Ross Duffer.
