That book Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus might as well be renamed Men Drink IPAs, Women Drink Mimosas, according to a report on the world's drunk tweets.
The heroes over at Quartz analyzed 500,000 tweets over a one-year period that included either #drunk or #drunktweet to determine where the sexes differ on their boozing habits and see if stereotypes about "girly" drinks vs. "manly" drinks hold true.
In a nutshell, yes they do. When it comes to booze "drunk" women are way more likely to tweet #cosmos, #pinacoladas, #mimosas, #sexonthebeach, #girlsnight and #besties, while "drunk" guys are way more likely to tweet #beer, #whiskey, #scotch, #johnniewalker, #naked, #passedout and #gayboys. Facts are facts.
Anyway, something interesting happened when they zoomed in on beer specifically.
The top beer for guys to tweet (aka the manliest) is #ironmaiden, referring to the Trooper ale made by Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson.
The top beer for women to tweet (aka the girliest) is #Budweiser.
Do you hear that? Somewhere a game of beer pong just came to a screeching halt.
Of course, there's a whole spectrum of beers, wines and liquors ranging from girly to manly, and the complete charts are worth checking out over at Quartz.
